The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) 2020 is one of the most preferred National Level Scholarship Examinations conducted by an official institution of India – National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) to trace, acknowledge and award the talent of the country.

NTSE 2020 is a National Level examination carried out to catalogue young talent from around the world with Indian nationality. This scholarship examination is organised in two stages. The first stage of NTSE 2020 is the state level examination which is conducted by the respective State and Union Territories in November 2019. The second stage of NTSE 2020 is the national level examination which will be conducted by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) on 10th May’ 2020. The Candidates need to apply for NTSE Stage-I as per the advertisement by the respective State or Union Territory Government. The applications and fees need to be submitted to Liaison officer of State and Union Territory. No separate application form or fees is required for NTSE Stage-II. The candidates who qualify in stage I of the examination are given the opportunity to sit for the second stage of NTSE. The examination details and roll numbers will be sent by NCERT directly to the selected candidates through speed post. The students with Indian Nationality studying abroad need to apply through the Head of the Institution where they are presently studying with the attested copy of standard IX.

Step by Step NTSE 2020 Registration Process:
- To start the application process candidates need to visit the official portal of NCERT- www.ncert.nic.in.
- Candidate needs to trace the link ‘Apply for NTSE 2020’.
- To proceed further, candidate needs to click on the link.
- Next and most important step is to carefully fill the following credentials:
- Candidates Name
- Candidates Date of Birth
- Candidates Educational Qualification
- Valid and registered Mobile Number
- Valid and registered Email ID
- Click on the ‘Submit’ button after successfully filling in the mentioned details.
- Look for the link to download NTSE Application Form.
- Proceeding further, candidates can download and take a printout of the application form.
- Candidates can also get the application form offline from the Liaison Officer of their State or Union Territory.
Filling of NTSE 2020 Application Form:
The students can precede the process of filling the NTSE application form through both modes- online and offline. The application form is distributed separately by different states. Similarly, the last date of submission of the application also varies from state to state. The basic guidelines required to be known to all aspirants regarding the form filling process are discussed below.
- While downloading, the candidate should take the printout using legal 8.5” * 14” size paper.
- The application form available online or with State or Union Territory liaison officer is only applicable for the Stage I examination.
- The students need to pay the application fee as prescribed by their respective State or Union Territory.
- The candidate needs to leave the four digit centre code blank while filling the NTSE 2020 Application Form. This is required to be filled by the liaison officer or concerned district officer or centre superintendent.
- The following details need to be filled by the aspirants for the completion of the NTSE application process:
- Candidates Name as per Birth Certificate
- Date of Birth of the candidate
- Parents’ Name, Education and Occupation
- Candidates Category

The procedure for filling up the form is different for the Indian students who are studying in our country, than the Indian students studying abroad. The necessary information candidates need to know regarding the same are mentioned below.
Indian Students studying in our Country:
- The candidates need to download the application form available on the official NCERT website.
- Post completion of filling in all relevant fields, the candidate needs to get the form signed by the principal of his or her school.
- Henceforth, the application form needs to be submitted to the State Liaison Officer before the last date of submission.
Indian Students Studying in Abroad:
- These candidates can directly apply for Stage II of the NTSE examination.
- The application form for the same needs to be downloaded from the website.
- The duly filled in application form needs to be sent along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous exam to the following address:

NTSE 2020 Application Fee:
After completing the mentioned steps of the Application Procedure, candidates may remit the examination fee by choosing the available options.
- For the first stage of NTSE, each state has its own rules with respect to the charging of the application fee.
- For the second stage of NTSE, there is no fee charged as no additional application form needs to be filled.
Important Instructions for NTSE Application:
- The posting address of the Liaison Officer of each centre can be found on the official portal of NTSE- www.ncert.nic.in/ntse/login
- The candidates need to stay in contact with the Liaison Officers, as the last date of submitting the application form can be different for every state.
- Before posting the application form to the Liaison Officer, candidates must make sure that the form has been filled properly with correct details on it.
- Complete postal address with PIN Code of Correspondence and permanent address needs to be filled accurately for further correspondence.
- Candidates need to check their valid and registered e-mail id on regular basis, so that they don’t miss upon any important update.
- Candidate needs to ensure that they fulfill the prescribed eligibility conditions for the Test.
