The IEO exam (International English Olympiad) is the English competitive examination conducted by the various organizations in India and abroad. The IEO is conducted on the basic knowledge of English of school syllabus ICSE, CBSE, and other major state boards.

IEO is a joint venture between the foundation of science Olympiad and the university of English and Foreign language (EFLU), Hyderabad.

The International English Olympiad exam has been started by a group of testing professionals. Who manages the all India English Language testing authority (AIELTA) at the University of English and foreign languages (EFLU).

Registration details of the IEO examination

Students can register only from their own school for the examination IMO does not recognize any other form of individual candidate involvement.

All the information will be sent to schools throughout the country / Asian countries along with prospectus, registration forms, posters, and other specifics before the first round, and as the date and location of the second level is determined, the information will be sent back to the schools concerned.

The SOF IEO is open to class 1 to 12 students All schools enrolled with SOF are sent annual reports including the registration forms. Unlicensed schools may also apply for a prospectus by sending an e-mail to info@sofworld.org/phone call. Schools shall return the registration forms to SOF, properly signed and submitted by the due date in every respect

Schools in India, Bhutan, Bangladesh & Nepal pay Rs 125* (including GST) registration fee to SOF per student / Olympiad for examination costs.  An additional fee of Rs 25 per student may be charged for an honorarium of the school in-charge, remuneration for teaching and guiding the teachers, and other expenses.

Students with any major physical impairment or an Indian student whose father was martyred during security operations are not charged a fee.

Eligibility criteria of IEO

The eligibility criteria of IEO are not much tough students of class 1 to class 12 are eligible to apply in this exam. This is a 2 level competition exam and the eligibility criteria of both levels are different. you can check the both level eligibility criteria below.

Eligibility criteria for level 1st

There are no specific criteria in IEO level 1st if you are studying in class 1 to class 12. You are able to apply for this examination. And also there is a requirement of maximum and minimum marks in the 1st level of IEO. All students are available for the IEO 1st level examination.

Eligibility criteria for level 2

The eligibility criteria of level 2 are different compare then level 1st and it’s totally depending on level 1st performance. If students perform well in level 1st then they are shortlisted to appear for level 2. Below you can check 2nd level eligibility criteria.

  • Top 5% of students from every class are eligible for 2nd level that appeared for the level 1 exam.
  • Top 25 class-wise and zone wise holders are eligible
  • Top rank holders are eligible in case of section-wise registration.

IEO – Exam structure

As we know the IEO exam is conducted in two levels, for qualifying the level 2 students need to qualify level 1. Here are the details of both levels.

Level 1

The Level 1 test has modified eligibility criteria to maximize student participation. While no minimum marks exist, all schools participating in classes 1 to 12 may reach the Olympiad. Level 1 is held in the students ‘ college, which is the main highlight of the Level 1 examination the test is conducted during the school time. The duration time of level 1 is 60 minutes.  The analysis takes the form of a multi-choice question. There are 35 questions for classes 1 to 4 students and 50 for classes 5 to 12.

  • The level 1 is divided into 4 sections
  • Word and structure knowledge (section 1)
  • Reading (section 2)
  • Written expression and spoken (section 3)
  • Achievers section (section 4)

This question paper includes separate questions papers for each English language medium and class. The examination papers are for the syllable CBSE, ICSE/ISC, and the state board.

Level 2

Students with outstanding level 1 examination performance qualify for the level 2 exams. Those studying in class 3 through 12 will appear for the level 2 examination Class 1 and 2 students are judged solely on the basis of their level 1 examination results and therefore do not need to appear for level 2 examination the following students are eligible to take the level 2 examination.

Class wise top 5 percent candidates in level 1 exam Class wise and zone wise top 25 rank holders in level 1 class top are qualified where at least 10 students appear in the exam and score 50 percent of qualifying marks.
