CBSE allows calculator in Board Exam for CWSN

The CBSE Board released an important notification regarding the upcoming CBSE 10th and 12th Board Exam 2020. The notification states that in the Board exams for children with special needs (CWSN), the CBSE Board will allow the use of simple basic calculators.

According to actual notification of CBSE “The Board has decided to facilitate students under CSWN (children with special needs) category by allowing the use of simple basic calculator during the board exam 2020 for class 10th and class 12th only.  And the use of calculator allowed only those students who have been registered under the Children with special needs (CSWN) category for the board exam 2020.

According to the CBSE controller “The students must submit a request to the schools by January 28 to allow use of the facility and the principal will have to forward it to the CBSE regional office concerned.

Bhardwaj said, “Candidates will not be allowed to use a calculator during the board examination who will request without appropriate certificate.”

In 2018 the CBSE Board had allowed the use of laptops or computers to write their examination for specially-abled students.

Allowed only basic calculator

For to the CWSN category, students will be allowed only a basic calculator. Digital calculator or a calculator with advanced function wont be allowed. Apart from this, the notification mentions that the calculator facility or option to allow the use of Basic calculators will only be offered to those students who already have enrolled in the CSWN category.

Applicable allowances for CWSN category students.

The CBSE board takes into account the special needs of the students applying for the CBSE board examination under the CWSE category. The CWSN is a staple of the many exemptions allowed for students.

  1. Usage of basic calculator allowing (starting this year),
  2. Allowing use of copyist and Scribe to write the answers
  3. Allowing usage of laptop for computer (starting in 2018)
  4. Exemptions for additional time
