Board Exam class 10 and 12 important facts

The board exams for class 10 and class 12 are set to begin from Monday next week. Almost 12 lakh students from class 12 and 16.5 lakhs students from class 10 are going to sit in the board exams this year. Since the exams have returned after a gap of many years so the stress level amongst students is bound to be high this year.

In order to make it little relaxed for students the CBSE has given some relaxation to class 10 students by setting the passing marks at 33 for this year. This is applicable for only the current year board exams as a one time relaxation for students.

Safety of Students in Schools

The Delhi government has directed all police stations to send constables for patrol during the closing time of schools to ensure safety of teachers and girl students. This was tweeted by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. See tweet below-

This has come in response to an attack which happened on a government school teacher inside school premises in Narela region of Delhi on February 21.

Non NCERT books sale allowed in schools

The sale of Non NCERT books and school uniforms by private vendors have been again allowed in school premises by the Delhi High Court.

CBSE had earlier passed a circular instructing all schools to close down tuck shops in schools which sell Non NCERT books and uniforms in school premises as it leads to commercialisation of the school as there were lot of complaints that the profits are pocketed by the private publishers and also shared with the school management.

Board Exam facilities for students with special needs

Special instructions have been sent to the examination centres where board exams for class 10 and class 12 is going to be held. The instructions have been sent for facilities to be provided to students with special needs.

The students will be allowed to use desktops or laptops for writing their exams. This facility has been provided so that students can see the question papers with large fonts and use hearing aids to listen to the questions given in the question papers. The students will be able to type the answers on the computers.

Admission to Kendriya Vidyalayas

The admission process for Kendriya Vidyalayas class 1 students are going to start from today and the process will continue till March 18. The admissions for class 2 till class 12 will start in April.

The students will get admissions to class 2 of the KV school they want to get admission only on availability of seats in that school. Similarly, the admission in class 11 will depend on the board results and seat availability in class 11.

Passing percentage for class 10

The passing marks for this years board examination for class 10 th has been decided to be an overall score of 33% in theory and internal assessments taken together. This decision has been taken by CBSE in recent circular and has been circulated to all CBSE affiliated schools.

This will be applicable only for students appearing in the board examination this year and might be changed from next year onwards.

NCERT Syllabus to be reduced

Human Resource Development Ministry will soon post on its website the details regarding reduction of NCERT syllabus and ask for suggestions from teachers, parents, educational experts, students and any other concerned person.

Everybody will be given time for more than month to post their suggestions and comments on the syllabus reduction by NCERT.

The suggestions will be then reviewed by the ministry after 2 months based on which the decision to reduce the syllabus will be finalized.

CBSE instructions on Admit cards for class 10 and 12 board examination

CBSE has issued strict advisory to schools on issuance of admit cards for board exams. CBSE has been receiving complaints from many students and parents that their schools are holding back their board exam admit cards based on issues like performance in pre board exams, lack of required attendance, non payment of fees etc.

Based on these complaints CBSE has issued instructions that all admit cards must be given to students without any further delay.

NCERT Syllabus to be halved

HRD Ministry has finally decided to reduce the NCERT syllabus by atleast half from the session which is going to start in 2019. For the session which is going to start from next month there wont be any change.

This change was long due to rising concerns of students and parents regarding the huge syllabus for all classes and subjects with almost 50 chapters for some subjects.
