World Environment Day by CBSE

CBSE has issued the following circular regarding celebrating World Environment Day:

World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year. This year India is hosting the World Environment Day 2018 at global level in collaboration with UN Environment on the theme “Plastic Pollution"

You are, therefore, requested to sensitize students by organizing awareness programmes on environmental conservation by conducting appropriate activities such as:

a)      Encouraging students to refuse, reduce and reuse plastic products in daily life.

b)      Conducting school waste audit and devise ways to reduce the waste generated in school.

c)       Banning bottles, wrappers, packaging, bags, cups, plates, tumbler made of plastic or polystyrene in school premises and in the school canteen.

d)      Encouraging use of alternative biodegradable products.

e)      Organising neighbourhood outreach activities under Eco-Club wherein students can educate people about the hazards caused by plastic waste.

f)       Organising competitions on innovative ideas such as formulation of school plastic waste management plan, how to make school a place free from plastic etc.
