Workshop on classroom management

Ivy World School conducted a two-day ‘Capacity building program’. It was based on classroom management. Vinod Bhatia, MA medical, has an 18-year old teaching and administrative record and an impressive track record. He was a member of the resource team. He was accompanied by Sangeeta Bhatia who has been working as a school counselor for 16 years. She has experience in life skills and adolescent issues.

The principal S Chauhan said, “It is the need of the hour to train teachers on effective skills required for managing classrooms to maximize the learning in the class. The program highlighted that effective classroom management requires teachers to have skills and clear ideas of what exactly is needed to create an effective teaching and learning environment in the classroom”. Several schools in and around Jalandhar participated in the program. As many as 55 teachers attended the workshop. It was a chance of a lifetime for the teachers to polish their classroom management skills. They also learned several new tactics.

Vanamahotsav

Dayanand Model School of Model Town celebrated Vanamahotsav. They started the morning ceremony with a speech where students have explained the importance of trees. The highlight was the plantation of new saplings in the school premises.

Students of Classes VI to VIII carried out an awareness rally. With the help of their teachers, they made people aware of their responsibilities towards the environment.

Classes IX and X participated in a paper presentation competition. Students got a chance to share their views on ‘tree plantation’. They also used motivational videos in their videos.

Principal Vinod Kumar explained to the students the need for a greener tomorrow. He emphasized the need of a green planet to fight global warming.

Awareness campaign on dengue

SVJC DAV Public School, Dasuya, organized an awareness campaign on ‘Anti-Dengue Month’. The notification had come from the office of Civil Surgeon in Hoshiarpur. The campaign was conducted under the guidance of S Sharma, principal of the school. Several co-curricular activities were organized. The aim was to spread awareness among students. The senior students participated in poster making and quiz competitions. Rohit Sharma, Ajayveer Singh (VIII) bagged the first prize in the poster making competition while  Paramveer Singh, Amandeep Kaur of Class IX and Srishti, Prabhjot Kaur of Class X were awarded the first position in poster making the competition. In the quiz competition, the red house got the first, the blue house second and the green house got the third position respectively. Teachers sensitized the students about the need for prevention of dengue.
