Verification of CBSE Results by Students

The CBSE Board has received requests for verification of marks awarded from 2.47% of students. This is despite news reports which have stated that a ‘faulty evaluation process’ was employed by CBSE for Class XII Board exams this year.

News reports stated that the higher number of verification requests had come in because the number of students alleging faults in the evaluation process has increased.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) stated that the percentage of students who requested verification is consistent with the percentage of students who requested verification in past three year. Only 2.47 per cent of students who answered their Class XII board exams were seen applying for verification. The CBSE Board clarified that there has been no marked increase in the number of applications received, as has been alleged by several news reports.

The Board also confirmed that the exam answer scripts were sent to evaluation to experienced teachers of the particular subject, in more than 2000 centres for evaluation throughout the country.

As there has been no change in marks awarded to the student in 99.98 percent of cases where request for re-evaluation was made, the Board has also taken a decision to do away with the verification process beginning June 2016. This decision was taken by the examination committee and the Governing Body.

A total of 10, 98, 891 students appeared for the Class XII Board examinations for CBSE this year, and the results were declared on May 28.
