Special Educators in CBSE Affiliated Schools

As per the latest announcement from Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),   it has been made mandatory for all CBSE affiliated schools to appoint a special educator to achieve inclusive practices.

CBSE has explained that a special educator is specifically required in schools to work with children who need additional support in order to complete their learning effectively. The teachers may be required to work with children with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, developmental disabilities such as autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy and specific learning disabilities.

The governing body of the board had held a meeting on August 2014 and had made it mandatory to appoint special educators in all CBSE affiliated schools to ensure effective and meaningful inclusion of children with disabilities in schools. The decision has been taken in accordance with the recommendations and approval of the curriculum committee of the CBSE.  There are certain schools which already have special educators.
