The Joint Admission Board (JAB) for IIT is considering the idea to change the current format of the JEE (Advanced) examinations. The current format of Multiple Choice Questions will be replaced with subjective questions.
The change is planned to check the overall understanding of the candidates which is not checked thoroughly by the MCQs format of question papers.
The above plan is still in consideration stage and views have been invited from various institutions and professors. Many professors have said that the current MCQs system is better as it includes system of negative marking and also helps to check the overall understanding of the entire course but if we have subjective questions that limited knowledge will be checked. Subjective answers will also lead to subjective marking which may be disputed by students.
Once the deliberations are over then the new format will be announced well in advance for the students which will help them to prepare for the exams accordingly.
