Participation in sports develops important skills in children. They learn about goal-setting, team work, discipline and various other skills required to deal with the real life situations. Being active in sports not only gives confidence to students, it also builds their self-esteem. The physical exercise gained by involvement in sports activities contributes in the health and fitness of students. Every year, the board conducts sports event for the schools affiliated with them in independent category at Cluster/Zonal and National level. There are 24 disciplines in various age groups for which sports and games competition are held From This year i.e. 2017-18, online system for is being introduced. It is to invite proposals for hosting sports events and also for applying to participate in sports events. Please note:
1Organization of Sports Event may be Proposed Online: Cluster/ Zonal or National Level in all the disciplines for boys/ girls category can be hosted by schools. The schools can apply online at cbsesports.in from 01.06.2017 to 15.06.2017. The same Username and Password which was used for LOC Submission for class X/XII may be used. Schools must assure they have facilities needed to host the sports events. Entries may be ONLY made online
2. Players can participate in sports events after Online Registration: Schools sponsoring their students /team in the CBSE sports events have to register online. Registration forms are available at cbsesports.in. There in a link “Register Student” and “apply to Participate”. Again the same Username and Password has to be used. Entries may be ONLY made online

4. List of Games, Age Groups and Clusters/ Regions:
The listed 24 games, Age groups at Cluster/ Zonal and National level are given Annexure-A & B respectively,
5. Grants are provided by the board to the school for the organization of the sports events. Rs.2,00,000/- for Cluster/ Zone level and Rs.3,00,000/- for National level is sanctioned. The hosts school have to make the arrangements of sports equipments like shuttle-cock, tennis ball, football, volleyball, basketball etc. The equipment may be purchased or hired by the school. The expenditure will be deducted from the CBSE grant. There will be no extra payment
6. Annual Sports Fee: The Annual Sports Fees for Independent Private Schools is Rs. 10,000/-. It has to be deposited at the time of registration fees with LOC(List of Candidates). Payments made by cheque/DD will not be accepted. The fees would not be accepted at Sports-cell, CBSE, Preet Vihar, Delhi, under any circumstances.
Private schools affiliated to the Board participating in Independent category must keep in mind the above and then participate in accordance with the guidelines given.
