The Government is taking measures to decrease the burden of school bags

Already the government has taken some actions to minimize the syllabus load and reduce the burden of school bags. Some of the measures taken by the government are as below:

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has come up with an innovative idea of reducing the burden of school bags. It has recommended only two textbooks for 1st and 2nd class students: Language and Mathematics. And for 3rd to 5th class students, it is recommended to have three textbooks: Language, Environmental Studies, and Mathematics. The NCERT had uploaded the textbooks in the official website, epathshala.nic.in. So, the students can check for them via web or mobile phones.

The Central Board of Secondary Education affiliated schools are strictly notified that the students are not allowed to carry their bags until 2nd class. In the recent circular it is clearly mentioned that all the schools should work effectively to reduce the burden of bags as much as possible. As an initiative, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has taken the first move by taking classes through digital standards. And as a startup, all the 8th class students belonging to Kendriya Vidyalayas will be given Tablets as a replacement for textbooks. The tablets will be very much helpful for the students, thereby improving their educational standards and will also promote them to learn more.

As per the Concurrent List of the Constitution, education is considered as a subject and they are many schools under the authority of the central government. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the State/Union Territory Government to take the initiative and reduce the burden of each student studying in their respective schools.
