opted language. Regarding second language, theFA4 scorewill be provided by the school.

Suppose    studen has   scored   40

marks outof60in PSAofclassIX then those   40   marks   will   taken   in   all subjectslikeEnglish, Hindi,Maths, Science and Social Science.

The Problem SolvingAssessmentinclassIX

will comprise ofa Question Paperof90 marks having 60Multiple Choice Questions. Ifa student gets 40 out of 90,thenits 10% i.e.,4.4 will be reflectedinonelanguage (Englishor Hindi), Mathematics, Scienceand Social Science.

Conductof Examinations for Classes IX

The Examinationwillbeheld on10th

January2014 (Friday)from10.00AM to

12.00 Nooninallschoolsexcept the schools fallinginWinterBoundareas. Forthese schoolsitwill be on19thOctober, 2013 (Saturday)

Does PSA help theaverage students?

Yes, the items inProblem Solving

Assessment (CBSE-PSA)will be designed insuchaway so asto improve the generic andhigherorderthinking skills.Thiswill also result inimprovingscores withinthe core school subjects.

Will there be anyseparate time table and

specificsyllabusforPSAforclasses IX

and XI?

As indicated inthe circularnos. 40and41

there willbe noseparatetime table or periods forteaching orpractice of PSAin schools

There isno specific syllabus for`Problem SolvingAssessment’(CBSE-PSA). The questionpaperwillbe designed toassess the followingareas:

 

• Quantitative Reasoning

 

• Qualitative Reasoning

 

• Language Conventions

Whenwill the students ofclass IX

improve their PSAscore?

The students willhave the optionto

improve their PSAScoreinClass X, as they cansit forthe testwithClass IX students of the Session2013-2014 theactual datewould be announced by the Board. The best scores will be reflectedinthefinalcertificatein case of those applying forimprovement.

Yes, PSAforclasses IX& XI will be

conducted by theBoard.Registration numberalreadyissuedwillalsobe applicable forPSA.

The student who is absent onthe date of
