150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi

CBSE has issued a circular to all schools in relation to the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and has asked schools to involve kids into various activities. These activities have to be started by the CBSE affiliated schools starting 2nd October and should continue for an year. The activities have to be planned by the schools and should increase awareness amongst students relating to topics of cleanliness, brotherhood, community service, more knowledge on life of Gandhi and many more activities. The extract of the circular has been given below:

On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, you may conduct various activities in your school throughout the year, starting from October 2, 2018. An illustrative list of activities that can be organised at the school level are as follows:

i. ‘Swachh Bharat - Swachh Vidyalaya’ Campaign to realise the goal of clean India.

ii. Multi-faith prayers e.g. “Abide with me” “Vaishnav Jan”, “Sermon on the Mount”, “Ramdhun” etc.

iii. Taking of national pledge by all students and teachers.

iv. Shramdaan/community service activities/ adoption of villages etc.

v. Seminars, debates, symposia and lectures on Gandhiji’s life and work with special reference to his ideal of Non-Violence and Communal Harmony in today’s context.

vi. Students may be encouraged to do projects and make presentations on Gandhiji’s life and work.

vii. Study visits may be organized for students to places associated with Gandhiji.
